As part of our in‐country Capability Delivery & Sustainment (CD&S;) team, the Field Services Team Lead will provide ongoing support, preventative and corrective maintenance, and upgrades of communications systems, such as HF, V/UHF, Secure Voice, SATCOM, antennas and network subsystems for ship and shore installations.
Your Tasks
Leading a small team of Technical Officers
Defining, planning, allocating and coordinating maintenance tasks associated with the Communications System
Tracking and reporting both internally and externally the progress of tasks
Performing maintenance on Communications System equipment, antennas and associated cabling/feeder systems to the Lowest Replaceable Unit (LRU)
Performing maintenance on Communications System Software, including liaising with engineering and software development teams
Performing technical investigations related to issues raised in relation to the Communications System, including preparation of a report with a recommendation to resolve the issue
Assisting engineering teams in successfully setting up platforms, providing technical support and ensuring adherence to established procedures
Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on technical maintenance and support activities to develop solutions and assist in resolving technical, maintenance and support requests and directing unresolved issues to the appropriate channels
Translating complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation – including post‐activity reports, completion reports, system and sub‐system specifications – to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts
Ensuring strict adherence to approved work practices and all relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures, with specific responsibility for ESD prevention, electronic equipment handling, and safe working at heights
Participating in and supporting the assembly, installation, test,
and commissioning of systems and products
Reviewing and ensuring activities comply with R&S; and customer plans, procedures, and regulations
Ensuring activities comply with Commonwealth and State/Territory regulations
Pro‐actively managing customer expectations regarding incident and service request resolutions
Maintaining a regular on‐site presence at the customer facility to enable timely resolution of maintenance tasks and follow‐up customer engagements
Your Qualifications
Certificate IV in Electrotechnology and Communications or equivalent qualification
Highly desirable to have previous experience with the repair and maintenance of communication systems, including but not limited to HF, VHF, UHF Radio Systems, SATCOM Systems, Secure Voice and Cryptographic Systems, IT Infrastructure, including network and desktop hardware, Configuration and management of software applications
Highly desirable to have previous experience working within Defence
Highly desirable to have previous experience working onboard Maritime Platforms
Rohde & Schwarz will provide comprehensive training in communications systems, communications equipment and software through our Learning & Development Centre to build upon the prior industry experience and qualifications
