Residential Role
Our client is a major operator within the Australian rail freight industry and is currently seeking an experienced Locomotive Fitter / Mechanical Tradesperson to join their rollingstock maintenance team.
This role is ideal for mechanically minded tradespeople looking for stable employment, excellent rates of pay, career development opportunities.
Working within a busy maintenance workplace, you will play a key role in ensuring locomotives, wagons, and tankers are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, helping keep freight moving safely and reliably across Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical servicing, maintenance, and fault repairs on rollingstock
Inspection and servicing of locomotive, wagon, and tanker brake systems
Maintenance and repair of wheels, suspension, and associated running gear
Diagnostic testing and fault finding
Scheduled preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
Inspection and identification of defects
Accurate recording of maintenance activities and completed work
Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with safety and technical standards
Providing support to other maintenance depots as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Mechanical Trade Certificate (essential)
Experience in rail, heavy industrial plant, mobile equipment, heavy vehicles, mining, or related industries
Robust diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
Commitment to safe work practices
Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Rail experience is ESSENTIAL
Additional licences such as HR, Forklift, or other relevant tickets will be highly regarded but are not essential.
