Position: Chef Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $79,500 to $80,500 plus superannuation per annum Location: Narre Warren South VIC **** Our client is seeking an experienced Chef to join their team located in Narre Warren South, Victoria.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Overall Responsibilities ·Ensure food is prepared to a consistently high standard.
·Menu items are completed and delivered ensuring customer satisfaction.
·Ensure all food is produced within budget requirements: minimising waste and costs.
·Ensure hygiene standards are maintained at a sufficiently high level and an approved food safety plan is implemented.
·Monitor and maintain all kitchen equipment in correct operating order.
·Liase with Head Chef to ensure consistency in product and materials.
·Enforce nutrition and sanitation standards for kitchen operations.
·Ensuring a high level of team performance ·Receiving and storing food to health dept requirements ·Attend meetings as required.
·Assist in any other areas as and when required.
Main Activities ·Prepare and cook high quality food according to menu guidelines and recipes.
·Supervise members of the kitchen team who are responsible to you ·Help to create valuable communication between floor and kitchen staff ·Receive and account for suppliers and deliveries ·Assist with the training of staff, including any apprentices and trainees ·Follow correct hygienic food handling practices ·Follow the restaurants regular cleaning and waste disposal practices ·Use protected work practices and support others to use them ·Maintain kitchen equipment and plant in good condition ·Demonstrate sound teamwork / organisational skills.
·Maintain a positive attitude.




·Act as a role model for staff.
·Accomplish work in an efficient and timely manner.
·Possess necessary knowledge with regard to food product.
·Identify, analyse and rectify problems.
·Practice consistency in decision making.
Monitor revenue and cost performance.
·Monitor food revenue, covers and food cost.
·Develop long/short term sales building goals and incentive programs with the Restaurant Manager.
Guarantee Quality Standards: ·Supervise food preparation process.
·Inspect food products to ensure product meet standards.
·Monitor finished product and take corrective action when required.
·Inspect storage facilities to ensure proper procedures are being followed.
Practice cost controls.
·Monitor all aspects of product acquisition and process.
·Guarantee the security of all products.
·Maintain reasonable cost/sales ratio.
Maintain the kitchen ·Enforce all routine open/close procedures.
·Establish and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
·Communicate deficiencies and take the required steps to rectify problems.
·Manage the restaurant kitchen in a security conscious manner.
Complete administrative duties.
·Comply with all policies with regard to stock requisitioning.
·Participate in required stock tacking activities.
·Write notes and memos as required.
Requirements: ·AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field ·At least three (3) years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen, café, restaurant ·Prior experience in preparing and presenting café-style meals in a commercial kitchen environment is highly desirable.
