Description Youth Program Support Worker Max-Term until 30 July **** Part-Time opportunity, 0.2 FTE Location: Rockingham ABOUT THE ROLE The Youth Program Support Worker will work in the Defence Kids program, assisting in the delivery of safe, engaging and inclusive programs for children and young people.
Working alongside the Youth Program Facilitator, the role supports participant engagement, activity implementation and set-up and pack down of program spaces and resources.
DUTIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist the Youth Program Facilitator in delivering the Defence Kids Program to ensure efficient and effective program delivery in line with Ngala's Strategic direction and contractual obligations.
Encourage engagement and participation during group sessions.
Assist in preparing activity spaces, equipment and resources prior to sessions.
Pack away equipment and materials following each session.
Assist with attendance records and other administrative tasks as required.
Contribute ideas to improve participant engagement and program delivery.
ABOUT YOU Knowledge and Skills Relevant qualifications and/or experience working with the target group or in a similar position in Community Services/Teaching/Education Assistant or Social Work.
Ability to build positive relationships with children and young people.
Solid communication and teamwork skills.
Intermediate IT level of competency.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and ages individually and in groups.
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines and manage multiple caseloads.
Understand, and honour, the histories, cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.




Understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements related to the work environment.
Understanding of the imperatives of working in a school environment.
Knowledge and skill to model the Family Partnership approach.
Role requirements Ability to work across other Ngala sites as required.
Possession of a current National Police Certificate.
Possession of current WA driver's licence.
