Position Overview
n
An chance is available for two experienced Lead UX/UI Designers to support the ongoing improvement of complex digital products and services within a large Federal Government environment. Working at a senior level, you will help shape accessible, intuitive and user-centred experiences across both internal systems and citizen-facing digital services.
n
The role will involve working closely with users, product owners, business stakeholders and delivery teams to understand requirements, test ideas and translate complex needs into practical design solutions. A strong focus will be placed on accessibility, inclusive design and the continued development of scalable design standards.

Key Duties
n
n
Design low to high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes aligned with established system standards.
n
Rapidly iterate and validate design solutions based on user and stakeholder feedback.
n
Produce clear design documentation and annotations to support efficient development handover.
n
Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of scalable, accessible and user-centred design systems.
n
Define and document interaction models, visual principles, accessibility standards and UX best practices.
n
Facilitate co-design workshops with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
n
Plan and facilitate usability testing with staff, service providers and end users.
n
Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product and business owners.
n
Conduct stakeholder engagement activities to support co-design of requirements and project outcomes.
n
Develop storyboards, process flows, sitemaps and other design artefacts.
n
Work with Business Analysts to capture and analyse data-related requirements.
n
Support stakeholder and governance approval of requirements and wireframes.
n
Contribute to project documentation including requirements specifications, process maps, service design artefacts and functional and non-functional requirements.
n
Deliver agreed design outputs in line with project schedules.
n

Skills and Experience Required
n
n
3-5 years' experience working as a UX/UI Designer.
n
Demonstrated experience eliciting UI/UX requirements through techniques such as workshops, brainstorming, prototyping, observation and interviews.
n
Contemporary knowledge of UX/UI methodologies and user-centred design practices.
n
Strong experience designing for accessibility requirements and WCAG guidelines.
n
Demonstrated ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
n
Strong experience using Figma to design user flows, wireframes and prototypes.
n
Experience designing mobile applications and web portals will be highly regarded.
n
Experience contributing to or managing design systems will be advantageous.
n
A strong interest in accessible and inclusive design and development.
n
Australian Citizenship and the ability to hold or obtain a Baseline security clearance.
n
Ability to provide details of two referees as part of the application process.
