About the Position: The Taxation Accountant plays a key role in delivering professional taxation and accounting services to the firm and its clients.
The position centres on taxation compliance, preparation and review of tax returns and financial information, BAS and GST matters, and the provision of sound taxation advice in line with Australian legislation and ATO requirements.
This ongoing full-time role supports the firm's continuing taxation and accounting workload and requires the application of professional knowledge, analytical skill and independent judgement.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, deceased estates and other entities.
Prepare and review BAS, GST, PAYG and other taxation-related reports and calculations.
Calculate taxable income, tax liabilities, deductions, depreciation, capital gains and related taxation components.
Prepare and review financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, for taxation and reporting purposes.




Analyse financial records and transactions to determine appropriate accounting and taxation treatment.
Reconcile accounting and taxation accounts, investigate discrepancies and identify matters requiring further review, including AML/CTF compliance considerations.
Provide taxation advice to clients and management on obligations and the taxation implications of business transactions.
Research, interpret and remain current with Australian taxation legislation, ATO rulings and guidance.
Assist with taxation planning and identify legitimate opportunities to improve taxation outcomes while maintaining compliance.
Prepare responses to ATO correspondence and assist with taxation reviews, audits and information requests.
Maintain accurate taxation workpapers, financial records and supporting documentation.
Liaise with clients, management, the ATO and other professional advisers on taxation and accounting matters.
Ensure taxation and accounting work is completed accurately and within statutory and client deadlines.

Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Taxation, Commerce or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and ATO requirements; experience preparing and reviewing taxation returns, financial statements, BAS, GST and PAYG matters; strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail; ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines; solid written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in accounting software including MYOB, Xero and Microsoft Excel; CA/CPA qualification or currently working towards it.
