Reception / Switchboard Operator Hamilton Base Hospital Permanent Part Time – 30 hours per fortnight $***** per hour + Superannuation + Salary Packaging Benefits Join a values-driven organisation making a real difference Be the welcoming voice and face of WDHS Western District Health Service is seeking a professional and customer-focused Reception / Switchboard Operator to join our Administration Services team.
As the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the efficient operation of the hospital switchboard and reception services.
This is an excellent chance for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and remains calm and professional under pressure.
What You'll Be Doing Customer Service Reception Provide a friendly, professional and welcoming first point of contact for patients, visitors, consumers and staff, responding to enquiries both in person and over the phone.
Switchboard Operations Manage a high volume of incoming calls, accurately direct enquiries, take messages, and ensure calls are handled efficiently and courteously.
Emergency Communications Act as a key communicator during hospital emergency codes, following procedures accurately and remaining calm under pressure.
Administration Support Undertake clerical and administrative duties including data entry, record management, filing and general office support functions.
Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation while contributing to a positive and supportive workplace culture.
Quality Confidentiality Maintain strict confidentiality at all times and work in accordance with WDHS policies, procedures and professional standards.




What You Bring Relevant administration qualification or equivalent experience Administration and/or customer service experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong telephone manner and customer service focus Ability to multitask and prioritise competing demands Demonstrated computer literacy and attention to detail Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency and high-pressure situations Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism Flexibility to work rostered hours across a seven-day service as required Commitment to the WDHS values of Integrity, Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Empathy Why Join Western District Health Service?
