Forefront Recruitment

Melbourne

If you're looking to step off the tools into a client-side role where you'll be surrounded by experienced technical professionals and have genuine opportunities to grow, this could be worth exploring.
This business develops, owns and operates large-scale data centres that support some of the world's leading technology and cloud providers.
Their facilities are designed around reliability, resilience and uptime, creating an workplace where electrical systems are genuinely mission critical and every decision matters.
You'll be exposed to some of the most sophisticated electrical infrastructure in the market, including UPS systems, generators, fuel systems and redundant power networks designed to support 24/7 operations.
You'll split your time between the company's Melbourne head office in the inner south-east and operational data centre sites in Melbourne's western suburbs.
The role sits within the Field Engineering team and supports the reliability, performance and ongoing development of critical electrical systems across live facilities.
One of the reasons people join this business is the opportunity to build a long-term career.
The Australian operation continues to expand and the business has a strong reputation for developing people, promoting from within and creating opportunities as new facilities come online.
You'll be working within one of the fastest-growing sectors in infrastructure, giving you exposure to projects, technology and career pathways that are difficult to find elsewhere.
The role combines technical oversight with practical field exposure.
You'll be involved in fault investigations, commissioning activities, procedure reviews, electrical risk management and supporting teams during complex electrical events.
While you'll spend time around the infrastructure, this is not a hands-on switching role.
You'll provide input into critical infrastructure systems including UPS infrastructure, generators, fuel systems, transformers, switchboards and HV/LV distribution networks.

The position suits someone who enjoys understanding how systems operate in the real world and can confidently work with contractors and stakeholders to achieve the right outcomes.
You might currently be an A-Grade Electrician, Electrical Maintenance Electrician, UPS Service Technician, Critical Facilities Electrician or Field Service Electrician looking to step into a client-side technical role.
If you've spent your career working around UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, power distribution or other critical electrical infrastructure and are looking to move off the tools while staying close to the technical side, we'd like to hear from you.
A current Australian A-Grade Electrical Licence (or equivalent) is essential for this position.
Data centre experience is welcome but not essential.
Experience gained within utilities, hospitals, industrial facilities, defence, mining or other high-availability environments will also be considered.
What matters most is your practical understanding of critical electrical infrastructure, your fault-finding and troubleshooting ability, and your confidence working with contractors, operators and stakeholders to ensure systems are performing safely and reliably.
We're looking for someone with hands-on experience across critical electrical systems including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, power distribution and electrical maintenance.
This role is best suited to someone from a practical electrical background looking to transition into a technical Field Engineering position.
Due to project and client requirements, applicants must hold Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship.
Salary is up to $140,000 plus super depending on experience.
