Quality Engineering Lead - Technical / Java

CloudMarc is an Australian specialist consultancy delivering Quality Engineering, test automation, cloud and digital-transformation services to leading enterprise organisations. We are looking for experienced Quality Engineers to support a major Australian enterprise client across customer-facing digital platforms.

This is a senior, hands‐on technical leadership role for Quality Engineers who can combine robust Java and automation capability with triad-level quality leadership. You will shape quality strategy across multiple squads while remaining technically credible and able to contribute directly to automation engineering.

What you will be doing
n
n
Define and drive quality strategy across multiple squads, streams and product areas.
n
Lead complex end‐to‐end testing spanning domains, platforms, vendors and external teams.
n
Set automation direction across web, mobile and API technologies.
n
Design, review and contribute hands‐on to maintainable Java‐based automation solutions.
n
Establish consistent standards for test approach, automation, coverage and release quality.
n
Own quality governance, risks, dependencies, defect triage, evidence and release readiness.
n
Partner with engineering and product leaders to improve testability, acceptance criteria and shift‐left quality.
n
Coach Senior QEs and QEs and lead measurable improvements to tooling, capability and practices

What we are looking for
n
n
Recent,



demonstrable hands‐on Java coding experience - this is mandatory.
n
Strong automation‐framework design and development experience; not only script execution or maintenance.
n
Strong API testing knowledge and experience supporting an API‐first quality approach.
n
Experience leading quality across multiple squads or complex digital product areas.
n
Proven leadership of cross‐team, multi‐domain end‐to‐end initiatives.
n
Strong risk‐based test design, governance, stakeholder communication and release‐readiness capability.
n
Working knowledge of CI/CD, test environments, test data and agile engineering practices.
n
A balanced Quality Engineering mindset across functional, exploratory and automated testing.
n

Highly desirable

Web and mobile automation experience.
n
Accessibility testing and visual‐regression experience.
n
Experience using approved AI tooling to accelerate test design, automation and defect analysis.
n
Retail, high‐volume digital or complex enterprise platform experience.

CloudMarc is looking for Quality Engineers who are comfortable moving between functional testing, exploratory testing and automation. Effective automation is more than writing scripts: it requires selecting the right scenarios, producing maintainable and reusable solutions, and ensuring automated coverage delivers genuine value to engineering and delivery teams.
