The Opportunity
n
I am currently partnering with a prominent Retail and Wholesale enterprise based in Preston, VIC to secure an exceptionally versatile Senior Test Manager (15+ Years Experience) for an urgent contract engagement.
n
Our client is undergoing a major business integration and merger/acquisition initiative. They require a rare hybrid leader who can seamlessly operate at both extremes: presenting 30,000-foot strategic quality updates to the Steering Committee, while remaining eager to get "on the tools" to drive hands-on test execution and defect triage.

What Makes This Role Different?
n
This is not a traditional, hands-off management position. You will bridge high-level corporate governance with front-line operational testing. In the morning, you might be leading a post-implementation War Room or executing test scripts; in the afternoon, you will be delivering crisp, high-level status metrics to C-suite executives.

Responsibilities
n
n
Executive Reporting: Deliver transparent, strategic, high-level views of testing progress, quality gates, key risks, and go-live readiness to the Steering Committee.
n
Hands-On Delivery ("On the Tools"): Roll up your sleeves to write test scenarios, perform hands-on defect verification, and execute tests as needed.
n




M&A; Process Integration: Utilise dual business and technical acumen to bridge the gap between business process owners and developers fixing defects during merger integration.
n
War Room & Hypercare Management: Lead from the front as War Room Manager, Defect Manager, and BAU Transition Lead during critical go-live and hypercare phases.
n
Quality Reviews & Oversight: Unit Testing (UT) & System Testing (ST).
n
Direct Management: System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Production Verification Testing (PVT), and Build Verification Testing (BVT).
n
BAU Transition: Ensure a seamless transition to business-as-usual, doubling up as a hands-on BAU defect tester during post-go-live support.

About You
n
n
15+ Years Experience: A deep track record in software quality engineering and test management within large enterprise environments.
n
M&A; / Integration Expertise: Proven experience driving testing programs through mergers, acquisitions, or complex multi-system consolidations (Retail/Wholesale background highly regarded).
n
Business & Technical Acumen: Ability to hold meaningful process discussions with business SMEs while technically dissecting issues with development teams.
n
Hypercare Leadership: Demonstrated capability leading War Rooms, managing post-production incidents, and maintaining composure under high-pressure go-live windows.
n
Soft Skills: Exceptional communicator, lateral thinker, flexible, and capable of delivering at pace.
