L / S Equity Research Analyst – Australia / New Zealand Financials
Location: Hong Kong OR Sydney
Our client, a
leading global multi-strategy hedge fund
, is seeking an
Equity Research Analyst
to cover the
Australia / New Zealand Financials sector
, working directly with a Portfolio Manager based in Hong Kong.
This role focuses on fundamental research across
banks, insurers, asset managers, brokers, and diversified financials
within the ANZ region. Candidates may be based in
Hong Kong or Sydney
, with seniority expectations adjusted by location.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct deep fundamental research on ANZ Financials companies (can have prior experience covering broader APAC Financials, but for this position will initially focus on ANZ markets)
Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuation frameworks
Generate actionable long/short investment ideas
Monitor earnings, regulatory developments,



and sector-specific catalysts
Work closely with the PM on portfolio construction and risk management
Requirements
3-10 years of public equities experience
on the buy-side or sell-side (HK based)
5-10 years of public equities experience
on the buy-side or sell-side (Sydney based)
Proven coverage of
Australia / Current Zealand Financials
Strong analytical, modelling, and communication skills
Sydney-based candidates should be
more senior
and able to own coverage independently
Hong Kong–based candidates must be comfortable focusing primarily on
ANZ Financials
