Leading Hand Timber Manufacturing | Bassendean

AWX is seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to join a busy timber manufacturing facility based in **Bassendean**, producing new timber pallets, wooden boxes and timber packaging products.
n
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working on the floor, supporting a team and keeping production running efficiently.
n
About the Role
n
As Leading Hand, you'll work alongside the production team while assisting with the day-to-day coordination of workflow, safety and productivity.
n
Your duties will include:
n
n
Leading and supporting General Hands and Production Workers
n
Coordinating daily workloads and production priorities
n
Operating a forklift to move timber, materials and finished products
n
Loading and unloading materials as required
n
Operating machinery used to manufacture and assemble timber pallets
n
Operating timber cutting machinery to cut wood to required sizes
n
Assisting with the manufacture of wooden boxes and timber packaging
n
Using pneumatic nail guns, grinders and other hand/power tools
n
Monitoring productivity and quality standards
n
Ensuring safe work procedures are followed
n
Assisting with training and supporting new team members
n
Identifying and escalating production or safety issues
n
General hands-on production and labouring duties as required
n
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment
n

To be considered, you'll need:
n
Current LF Forklift Licence essential
n
n




Previous experience in a Leading Hand, Team Leader or senior production role
n
Forklift operating experience
n
Experience within manufacturing, production, warehousing, timber or a similar workplace
n
Confidence working with machinery and hand/power tools
n
Strong communication and people skills
n
Ability to organise workloads and keep a team on task
n
A hands-on approach this is not an office-based supervisory position
n
Good understanding of workplace safety
n
Current driver's licence and reliable transport
n
Ability to complete a pre-employment medical, functional assessment and drug & alcohol screen
n
Unrestricted Australian working rights
n
n
Due to the full-time hours required, we are unable to consider **Working Holiday Visa holders or Student Visa holders with restricted working hours
