The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Senior System Safety Engineer to join the BCS team. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for ADF personnel. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission
needs.Responsibilities:Perform
Systems Engineering activities to plan, design, develop and verify systems specialising in the System Safety domain.Support projects in understanding requirements and design implications pertaining to System Safety and identify potential and realised performance and safety
considerations.Provide
guidance and mentorship to junior team members.Lead specific scopes of work in System Safety engineering for projects.Actively promote the benefit of System Safety across the organisation and contribute to the development and growth of these disciplines within
BDA.Experience/QualificationsEssential:Experience
in System Safety Engineering or related discipline in a complex project
environment.Demonstrated
experience in the application of safety-related legislation, standards and safety engineering techniques to product designExcellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills that enable you to influence outcomes in a team setting.A continuous improvement mindset.Tertiary degree qualification in engineering or related technical




discipline.Applicants
must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security
requirements.Desirable:Experience
within Defence or complex engineering project
environments.Preferably
RPEQ or CPEng qualified in a relevant discipline or able to gain RPEQ/CPEng
certification.Experience
with Communication
Systems.Understanding
of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle
management.Experience
