About the Role
We are seeking a
Finance Officer
to join our Finance Team in Canberra. This role plays a key part in supporting day‐to‐day finance operations, payroll processing, compliance activities, and overall business efficiency.
Reporting to the Finance Team Lead, you will contribute to payroll, taxation, reporting, and process improvements while also supporting broader finance and back‐office functions.
Candidates with payroll experience, as well as recent graduates looking to start their finance career, are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Payroll
Process contractor timesheets
Assist with monthly staff payroll, including leave balances and superannuation
Support invoicing and payment processing
Assist with taxation obligations
Assist with month‐end processes, reconciliations, and journal entries
Support preparation of management and budget reports, and annual financial statements
Assist with external audits
Manage salary packaging arrangements (e.g. novated leases, LAFHA)
Business Compliance
Assist with state and territory licensing requirements
Ensure compliance with operational and regulatory obligations
Finance & Operations Support
Input financial data into MYOB and internal systems
Manage timesheets and payroll invoice filing
Support monthly invoicing cycles
Run reports (e.g. Aged Receivables) and follow up outstanding payments
General Duties
Monitor shared finance/admin inboxes
Support ad‐hoc finance and operational tasks
About You
You are a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional who thrives in a fast‐paced workplace.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a finance or payroll processing role
Familiarity with
MYOB and/or Astute Payroll
(highly desirable)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
