Hatchit Studios is seeking an experienced
Senior Automation & Virtualisation Infrastructure Engineer
to support a
federal government client
in the delivery of secure and scalable infrastructure services.
This role requires deep technical expertise across
VMware
,
automation frameworks
, and
enterprise infrastructure management
within highly regulated environments.
About the Opportunity
As part of an established Infrastructure Platforms team, you will play a key role in the management, enhancement, and automation of
VMware virtualisation environments
and associated infrastructure platforms.
You'll design and deliver automation solutions, maintain business-critical systems, and contribute to the ongoing uplift of the government's technology capability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and optimise VMware environments including
Aria Automation
,
Aria Orchestrator
,
vSphere
,
NSX
, and
Site Recovery Manager
.
Develop and maintain automation solutions using
PowerShell
,
PowerCLI
,
Ansible
, or
Terraform
.
Deliver
design, build, and operational documentation
to support ICT infrastructure services.
Implement backup, storage, and replication solutions (e.g.,
Veeam
,
NetApp
, or equivalent).
Ensure system reliability,



compliance, and alignment with ICT best practices and security frameworks.
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve complex infrastructure issues and drive service improvements.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience managing
VMware environments
(vSphere, Aria Automation/Orchestrator, NSX, Cloud Foundation).
Strong automation and scripting capability with
PowerShell
,
PowerCLI
,
YAML
, or
Ansible
.
Demonstrated experience delivering
design, build, and operations documentation
in structured ICT environments.
Familiarity with
backup and recovery tools
(e.g., Veeam, CommVault, or similar).
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Prior experience working in
federal government or secure enterprise environments
(highly regarded).
Security Clearance:
Must hold or be eligible to obtain
Baseline Security Clearance
(NV1/NV2 highly regarded).
