Role overview
Join our team as an Education and Training Officer - First 5 Forever! Are you passionate about building literacy skills in children and empowering families through learning? First 5 Forever is a State Library of Queensland coordinated early literacy program that provides free, family-friendly activities and resources through public libraries to help children aged 0 - 5 develop strong foundational skills in talking, reading, singing, and playing. The initiative supports children's rapid brain development in the early years by encouraging families to build a lifelong love of learning and prepare their children for school.
The role is responsible for developing and delivering First 5 Forever Early Literacy training and development program for Redland Libraries staff and coordinating outreach activities in accordance with the Service Level Agreement with the Queensland State Government (via the State Library of Queensland).

Responsibilities
Design and deliver training for all library staff to support First 5 Forever programs
Coordinate outreach activities, including travel to island communities across the Redlands region
Engage, build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders and other First 5 Forever providers
Research and share best practice in early childhood literacy with the community
Manage program reporting, budgets,



and compliance of the Service Level Agreement with State Library of Queensland and Redland City Council and plan delivery of activities within a fixed budget.
Support core library programs and providing excellent customer service.
Skills and experience
Demonstrated experience in designing and planning of training and development activities
In depth knowledge, interest and understanding of early or family literacy programs
Highly developed oral skills and a proven track record of engaging key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of programs, activities and events and promotion of key messages
Organised, adaptable, and adaptable
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare detailed reports and manage budgets.

Requirements
