About Pathology
QueenslandPathology
Queensland (PQ) provides diagnostic pathology services to all Hospital and Health Services (HHS) across metro, regional and remote Queensland and plays a critical role in the government's response to public health threats, epidemics, and civil
emergencies.Purpose
of the roleFulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values (QPS) along with the following
accountabilities:Provide
timely, productive, high quality and cost-effective Anatomical Pathology diagnostic and consultation services which meet the clinical needs of referrers statewide.Actively participate in discipline specific meetings,
laboratory/department
meetings and or multidisciplinary team meetings as determined in consultation with
clients.Participate
in a comprehensive clinical liaison service for Anatomical Pathology when required.Provide an autopsy service as required to the Hospital and Health Service and other
institutions.Supervise
registrars.Actively
participate in performance and development in your field of Anatomical
Pathology.Participate
in clinical audits including the review and validation of test and quality assurance
results.Collaborate
with laboratory scientific, technical and operational colleagues to ensure service excellence.Adhere to quality standards, health and safety policies and
procedures.Collaborate
with stakeholders on the test repertoire offered by your group and provided by your clinical specialty using the resources available.This role will report to the Medical Director, Sunshine Coast University Hospital Laboratory either directly or through appropriate reporting lines.Follow
recommendations/directives
from the Medical Director(s) or Quality Manager.Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the
following:Demonstrated
contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in Anatomical Pathology,
participate in the local and remote frozen section service, perform on site and remote MDTs, be able to participate in the after-hours on call roster, and a high level of professionalism required in the position, especially
objectivity.Demonstrated
high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the
position.Demonstrated
skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and
managementKnowledge
of the ISO ***** and NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse
networkQualifications,
registrations and other
requirementsMandatory
requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in Anatomical Pathology (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist.The incumbents must be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent.Please detail any visa conditions that you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.Vaccine Preventable Diseases requirementsIt will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis B and TB.How to applyPlease provide the following information to the panel to assess your suitability:Your resume, including the names and contact details of two referees who have a thorough knowledge of your capabilities, work performance and conduct within the previous two years, and it is preferable to include your current, immediate or past supervisor.A short statement (maximum two pages) that gives details of your skills, experience and knowledge as required on the role description under the heading 'key competencies (role specific criteria)'.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
