About the Role

The Senior Dental Officer is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based dental care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and the broader community within a culturally protected and respectful environment. The role delivers comprehensive clinical services across preventive, restorative, emergency, and oral health promotion activities while supporting improved oral health outcomes and reducing barriers to accessing care.

As a senior clinician, the position provides clinical leadership, mentoring, and professional support to dental staff, promoting excellence in clinical practice, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement. The Senior Dental Officer contributes to the development and implementation of oral health programs, participates in multidisciplinary models of care, and supports the achievement of Kambu Health's strategic objectives through collaboration, innovation, and adherence to professional, legislative, and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive, patient-centred dental care, including examinations, treatment, preventive care, restorative procedures, extractions, and emergency care

- Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed, evidence-based dental services tailored to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families

- Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, supervision, and professional guidance to dental and multidisciplinary team members

- Maintain high standards of clinical governance, infection control, safety, compliance, documentation, and quality improvement

- Collaborate with medical, allied health, family services, specialists, and community partners to provide integrated care

- Support community oral health promotion, education, outreach activities, and improved access to culturally appropriate dental services

- Maintain skilled registration and CPD requirements while contributing to service planning, reporting, teamwork, and Kambu Health’s values





What You'll Bring

- Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Dental Medicine, or equivalent recognised qualification, with current AHPRA and Dental Board registration (Mandatory)

- Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)

- Current C Class Drivers License (QLD) (Mandatory)

- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain (Mandatory)

- Significant clinical experience across preventive, restorative, emergency, and complex dental care, with strong clinical judgement

- Strong clinical leadership, communication, mentoring, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
