Why join us?
At Rhino-Rack, we are more than just a leading manufacturer of roof racks, bike carriers, and vehicle accessories—we are a community driven by core values that put people first. We believe in customer centricity, innovation, and continuous growth. Here, you will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your skills and ideas are not just welcomed but celebrated. Join us and be part of a team where your contributions truly make a difference, and where collaboration and quality are at the heart of everything we do.
Are you highly detail-oriented with a strong technical mindset and a passion for products that support outdoor adventure? As our Technical Product Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our product data, technical documentation and CAD outputs are accurate, complete and ready to support our customers, dealers and internal teams.
- Own and maintain accurate product master data, including BOMs, weights, dimensions, materials, finishes, load ratings, drawings, compliance records, packaging details and carton data.
- Act as a final quality check before product data is released to internal teams, dealers, OEM customers and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate Engineering Change Order workflows, including raising, tracking and closing changes while ensuring related BOMs, drawings, documentation and inventory updates are completed on time.
- Support minor CAD model and 2D drawing updates for line extensions, white-label programs, packaging changes and labelling updates within the required revision control process.
- Prepare customer-facing technical outputs such as dimensioned drawings, STEP/IGES files, exploded views and fitting instruction artwork.
- Build strong technical product knowledge and act as a first point of reference for Sales, Marketing and Customer Service teams on product data and fitment queries.
- Support OEM and B2B customer requests by preparing technical data packs, drawing submissions and specification sheets.
- Identify opportunities to improve product data structures, templates and processes to reduce rework, improve accuracy and prevent downstream errors.
About you:
You’ll bring a practical technical background, a sharp eye for detail and the confidence to work across product data, drawings and documentation in a fast-moving product environment.
- 2–4 years’ experience in product engineering, drafting, technical support, product data or a similar technical role, ideally working with physical consumer or automotive products.
- A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, engineering technology, industrial design, mechatronics or drafting — or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong attention to detail and data discipline, with the ability to pick up missing details, incorrect revisions, mismatched BOMs or drawing inconsistencies before they cause downstream issues.
- Working knowledge of BOM structures, revision control and PDM/PLM systems,
with confidence managing accurate product information through change processes.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software, including drawing creation, configurations and basic model or drawing updates.
- Sound understanding of engineering drawings, tolerancing and manufacturing methods such as sheet metal, extrusion, die casting or injection moulding.
- Experience working with ERP item master data, supported by intermediate to advanced Excel skills for reviewing, reconciling and maintaining large data sets.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and the confidence to question discrepancies rather than simply passing them on.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for commercial, customer-facing and cross-functional audiences.
- Strong planning and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Desirable: Experience in the automotive accessory, 4WD, trailer/RV, marine, outdoor equipment or similar product sector.
- Exposure to automotive quality frameworks or OEM documentation requirements, such as IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP, drawing submissions or technical data packs.
- Familiarity with Arena PLM, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or similar tools used to support fitting instructions, packaging artwork and product documentation.
- A genuine interest in the outdoors, vehicles, adventure gear or products that help people make more space for adventure.
