We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Drill & Blast Supervisor to join our Drill and Blast team. You will play a key leadership role in supervising and coordinating the safe, efficient and compliant execution of drill and blast activities across the mine operation.
The role provides an opportunity to lead a high-performing team, contribute directly to production outcomes and drive continuous improvement in safety, blast quality and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Execute daily and weekly drill and blast plans, identifying any constraints or deviations that may affect production.
- Ensure drill patterns, blast layouts and charging activities are completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
- Oversee explosive management, including secure storage, handling and compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Lead by example in our safety culture, completing safety observations and critical control audits.
- Manage, investigate and report all drill-and-blast-related incidents, applying corrective actions within your area of responsibility.
- Conduct pre-blast inspections and ensure statutory and company requirements are adhered to.
- Provide guidance, coaching and support to drill and blast operators, ensuring competencies are maintained and responsibilities understood.
- Attend daily production meetings and provide accurate summaries of drill and blast performance over the previous 24 hours.
- Work closely with Mining, Technical Services and Drill & Blast teams to ensure effective planning, communication and execution.
- Drive a strong safety culture, accurate compliance and continuous improvement.
About You
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' proven experience across both drilling and blasting operations in an open-cut mining workplace — candidates with blast-only or drill-only backgrounds will not be considered.
- Proven experience leading and managing Drill & Blast crews.
- Current Open C Class Driver's Licence.
- Standard 11 Induction.
- S1, S2, S3 and G2 Supervisor Competencies (or ability to obtain).
- Current Queensland Shotfirer's Licence.
- Current Queensland Explosives Security Clearance
- Current Queensland Coal Board Medical and able to complete other required medicals.
- Solid understanding of drill patterns, blasting techniques, explosive management and regulatory requirements.
- Strong organisational, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritise, troubleshoot and make effective decisions under pressure.
