The Role
The Psychologist will be responsible for providing professional, evidence based Psychological Services to people who are referred to Psychology Services via private referrals, Better Access (GP Mental Health Treatment plan), NDIS and other Black Swan Health services. The Clinician will contribute to high-quality care to achieve best outcomes for clients and loved ones.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
· Undertake clinical assessment and treatment planning for clients referred to the service using validated screening and assessment tools, e.g. DASS or K10.
· Provide short term focused, evidence-based psychological strategies to eligible clients referred via other funding streams including, private referrals, the Better Access initiative, NDIS and Black Swan Health’s Youth Mental Health centres.
· Work with clients with a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses and complex presentations.
· Provide a minimum of five individual sessions for eligible clients in a day.
· Provide progress and final reports to referring GPs on clients referred under a MHTP, to ensure best client outcomes and appropriate on-referral pathways. Report writing needs to be consistent with Medicare and other guidelines.
· Deliver comprehensive assessment report writing for external stakeholders e.g. legal firms, Workers Compensation.
· Administer and interpret psychometric tools e.g., Conners 3® and produce detailed reports to the highest standard for clients.
· Participate in collaborative communication and consultation within the multidisciplinary team to ensure best outcomes for the client.
· Deliver case presentation as required.
· Provide therapeutic practice in line with the Operational Guidelines and Clinical Governance Framework.
· Maintain accurate client files, ensuring all notes are recorded on the client database and kept confidential.
· Keep accurate and up to date client records in line with Black Swan Health policies and procedures.
· Contribute to the development and implementation of internal and external professional development events.
· Attend organisational meetings as required
· Comply with all contractual, statutory, and organisational obligations, deliverables and / or performance indicators as relevant to your portfolios / key responsibilities.
· Participate in ongoing Quality Improvement activities
· Lead the team in Peer Group sessions, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for professional development.
· Mentor recent clinicians, providing guidance and support in their professional growth, including staying abreast of and implementing any changes to requirements issued by AHPRA and the APS.
· Support and lead the growth of our Family, Children, and Couples counselling service, contributing to service development and expansion.
· Support our assessment services, including co-signing collaboratively with our Assessment Clinician on reports and evaluations
· Other duties as directed.
The successful candidate will have
· Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology and current registration as a Registered or Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
· Demonstrated experience in performing short term focused,
evidence-based psychological strategies for children, young people and adults.
· Experience working with children aged 6years old, and youth.
· Demonstrated experience in ADHD, ASD assessments, along with working with NDIS clients.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage people from all backgrounds.
· Demonstrated experience in administration of a range of cognitive and adaptive behaviour assessment tools.
· Ability to work both independently with minimum direct clinical supervision and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
· Ability to monitor and assess risk concerns, including risk of harm to self or others, or mental deterioration.
· National Police Check
· Working with Children Check
· Current eligibility to work in Australia
· Current WA driver’s licence and own vehicle for work purposes
