Who are we?

HSR Consulting is a Tasmanian-based occupational hygiene, safety and training company. We provide consulting and training services including workplace health and safety, asbestos, silica, first aid, working at heights and mines rescue.

Due to continued growth in demand for our services, we are looking for a motivated person to join our team as a Trainee Occupational Hygiene Technician.

The opportunity

This is a full time trainee position offering practical, on-the-job training and the opportunity to build a career in occupational hygiene.

You do not need previous occupational hygiene experience. We are looking for someone with the right attitude who is willing to learn and develop their technical skills.

The successful applicant will be:

- Reasonably fit and comfortable undertaking field-based work

- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

- Willing to learn through practical, on-the-job training

- Able to adapt to changing work environments and priorities

- Willing to travel throughout Tasmania and interstate

- Approachable and able to work effectively with a range of people

- Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work as part of a team





- Competent in written communication, literacy and numeracy

What skills do I need?

Other than the qualities listed above, no previous experience is required.

An interest in workplace safety, science, health, mining, construction or environmental monitoring would be an advantage.

What will the role involve?

You will work across industries including mining, construction and manufacturing, assisting with workplace testing, monitoring and inspections.

The role may include:

- Setting up and collecting workplace air-monitoring equipment

- Assisting with noise, dust, asbestos and other occupational hygiene assessments

- Recording field observations and monitoring results

- Maintaining and preparing equipment

- Assisting with reports and documentation

- Travelling to client sites throughout Tasmania and interstate

- Working alongside experienced occupational hygiene consultants

Full training and support will be provided.
