Century Mine | Lawn Hill, Queensland | FIFO 15/13 Roster | 12-Month Contract with potential to extend.
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Health, Safety & Training (OHS&T;) Coordinator to join our team at Century Mine.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established site during an important period of change. Century Mine is approaching the final stages of hydro mining, with mine life currently through 2027, while also preparing for rehabilitation activities and the potential future development of phosphate operations.
The role is Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) on a 15 days on / 13 days off roster.
Cairns is the nominated point of hire, with company-supported travel arrangements available from Townsville and Brisbane through Cairns.
Century Mine has a well-established accommodation village with excellent facilities and amenities, providing a comfortable base while on roster.
About the Role
Reporting to the OHS&T; Superintendent, you will work as part of a small, experienced team providing practical health, safety, training and emergency response support across the operation.
Our team works closely with operational departments, employees, contractors and leaders to help them manage risk, meet their safety responsibilities and maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
This is primarily an occupational health and safety role.
Emergency response and training are important parts of the position, but this is not a standalone Emergency Services Officer role. We are looking for someone who can balance practical site safety support, emergency response, training, compliance and administration.
You will spend time in the field, work directly with operational teams and provide practical advice and support across the site.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day OHS&T; support across the operation.
- Supporting incident, hazard and near-miss reporting and investigations.
- Assisting with risk assessments, inspections, audits and safety meetings.
- Working with leaders, employees and contractors to improve safe work practices.
- Reviewing and supporting Job Hazard Analyses, procedures and other safety documentation.
- Maintaining safety, training, emergency management and compliance records.
- Coordinating and following up corrective actions, inspections and audit findings.
- Supporting site emergency preparedness, response arrangements and emergency exercises.
- Supporting and providing leadership within the site Emergency Response Team.
- Coordinating emergency response equipment inspections and readiness activities.
- Supporting emergency response and other site training where qualified and competent.
- Helping maintain effective safety systems, records and reporting requirements.
About You
You are a practical and approachable safety professional who is comfortable working closely with frontline operations.
You can provide clear advice, build good working relationships and follow matters through to completion.
You are organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and willing to work across both field-based and administrative aspects of the role.
You will also have enough emergency response experience to confidently participate in and provide leadership within an established Emergency Response Team.
What We’re Looking For
Essential or Strongly Preferred
- Demonstrated Occupational Health and Safety experience within the resources sector, including mining,
oil and gas or similar resource operations.
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
- Practical experience with incident investigation, risk management, inspections and operational safety systems.
- Emergency response, mines rescue or emergency management experience.
- Robust communication, organisation and administration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, supervisors and operational leaders.
- Current C Class Driver Licence.
Highly Regarded
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue, Mines Rescue or equivalent.
- Experience providing leadership within an Emergency Response Team.
- HR Heavy Rigid Driver Licence.
- Qualifications, competencies or training experience in:
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space Entry
- Mobile equipment
- Other relevant high-risk or operational activities
- Experience delivering or supporting supervisory training such as S1, S2, S3 and G2.
Why Join Century Mine?
You will join a small and experienced OHS&T; team where you can make a practical contribution across the operation.
The role offers variety across occupational health and safety, training and emergency response, while working closely with operational teams rather than being limited to a purely administrative safety position.
With Century Mine entering an important period of operational change, rehabilitation and potential future development, this is an opportunity to contribute to the next phase of the operation while working within an established site and experienced team.
