Rates Officer

About the role

Reporting to the Leader Revenue, you'll be responsible for a variety of rating and revenue functions, including property ownership updates, rate transactions, pensioner rebates, customer enquiries and outstanding rates management. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, residents, settlement agents and government agencies to deliver accurate, timely and customer-focused services.

A snapshot of your new role:

- Managing property and rate record updates and transactions

- Processing pensioner rebates and deferment applications

- Assisting with outstanding rates recovery activities

- Responding to customer, solicitor and settlement agent enquiries

- Supporting the preparation of annual rate notices and related correspondence

- Negotiating payment arrangements and providing advice on rating matters

- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring data integrity

What you will bring to the role:

- Demonstrated experience in rates administration or a related local government revenue function, with an understanding of rating processes and practices.

- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act 1995 and Rates and Charges (Rebates and Deferments) Act 1992.

- Well-developed customer service, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to resolve issues professionally and effectively.

- Solid administrative, organisational and time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database systems.

- Current Satisfactory National Police Clearance.
