About the Company:
At The Valley Junction, we believe in “Love at first bite”, as we offer a wide range of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, as well as a variety of cocktails and desserts to satisfy your cravings. We provide a comfortable and enjoyable space for you to relax and indulge in our delicious food and drinks. We are looking for a full time Chef/Cook to join our team.
Salary Range: $70,000 to $90,000 per annum
Location: Kingswood, NSW 2747
Role: Full time
Position: Multiple
Main responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Prepare, cook and present a range of menu items, including main meals, snacks, desserts and occasional special or off-menu dishes, ensuring efficient and timely service.
2. Inspect ingredients and cooking supplies upon delivery to confirm freshness, quality and suitability for use.
3. Maintain consistent standards throughout food preparation and service by checking flavour, presentation, portioning and overall dish quality.
4. Prepare à la carte and customised dishes in response to guest requests, including adjustments for dietary preferences and specific requirements.
5. Follow established plating guidelines and presentation standards when producing and serving dishes.
6. Apply appropriate food-safety procedures when preparing meals for guests with allergies, intolerances or other dietary restrictions.
7. Take responsibility for preparing more complex dishes and ensure completed meals meet the restaurant’s expected quality standards.
8. Work closely with the kitchen team to develop and update menus, taking into account seasonal produce, customer preferences and operational requirements.
9. Create new recipes and improve existing dishes to maintain consistency, authenticity and the overall quality of the restaurant’s food offering.
10. Monitor stock levels of food, ingredients and kitchen supplies, and manage ordering and usage to minimise unnecessary waste.

Maintain effective working relationships with food suppliers and other vendors to support reliable supply and product quality.
12. Supervise, train and support kitchen staff, including assisting with recruitment, rostering and allocation of duties to maintain an efficient kitchen operation.
13. Review food and labour expenses and identify practical opportunities to control costs without reducing food quality or service standards.
14. Ensure kitchen practices comply with applicable food-safety, hygiene and food-handling requirements, maintaining a clean and secure working workplace.
15. Seek and consider customer feedback regarding dishes and dining preferences, using relevant feedback to support ongoing menu improvements..
To succeed in the role, you must meet below criteria’s
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a fast-paced restaurant
- Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in commercial cookery or diploma in hospitality management
- Minimum 1 year of Australian work experience in a similar restaurant style cooking is mandatory
- Be available to work on both weekdays and weekends
- Possess understanding of food safety and HACCP
Skills and Attributes:

- Expertise in HACCP and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
- Strong skills in collaborating with staff and management.
