Pay Rate:

$45 - $50 per hour + penalties + overtime opportunities

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a busy manufacturing facility based in Elizabeth South, Adelaide.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing plant and equipment to ensure production targets are met and downtime is minimised. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, breakdown response, equipment installations, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and food safety compliance.

This role offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a close-knit maintenance team within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on plant and production equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Carry out plant inspections and proactively identify potential issues.
- Complete maintenance schedules, service reports, and preventative maintenance checklists.
- Install, service, and rebuild plant machinery and production equipment.
- Perform fitting and turning tasks as required.
- Conduct metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding repairs.




- Coordinate with the Engineering Manager regarding spare parts and maintenance requirements.
- Assist with engineering improvement projects and machinery upgrades.
- Learn and support specialised equipment maintenance, including seaming machinery.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, quality, and food safety standards.
- Adhere to all WHS policies, procedures, and protected work practices.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will possess:

- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Cert III Engineering - Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food processing, packaging, or industrial environments.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of GMP and HACCP principles will be highly regarded.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
