The Opportunity

Our client is completing the development of a progressive 800-cow dairy operation near Launceston and is seeking an experienced Dairy Farm 2IC. This is a practical leadership role for someone who enjoys being hands-on with the herd while leading people and improving farm performance.

Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will help coordinate daily and seasonal operations and take responsibility for the farm when the Manager is away.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee milking, herd movements, feeding, grazing rotations and stock handling
- Monitor herd health, fertility, milk quality, body condition and performance
- Assist with calving, calf rearing, mating programs, treatments and culling decisions
- Supervise, train and support farm staff and relief milkers
- Contribute to pasture management, feed budgeting and supplementary feeding
- Maintain accurate production, treatment, compliance and staff records
- Keep dairy facilities, machinery, fences and water systems operating safely

About You

- Proven dairy farming experience, ideally as a 2IC, senior farm hand or team leader




- Sound knowledge of herd health, reproduction, nutrition and pasture-based systems
- Confident supervising staff and managing day-to-day priorities
- Practical machinery skills and the ability to handle basic maintenance
- Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently
- Current driver licence; agricultural qualifications will be well regarded
