AO7 Principal Project Officer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Officer (Infrastructure) for an initial 6 month contract with a Queensland Government department, based in Brisbane.

This role sits at the centre of the department's property and infrastructure function, covering both commercial lease management and end-to-end infrastructure project delivery. It would suit a senior property, project or infrastructure professional who is comfortable operating at a strategic level while also leading delivery on the ground.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and manage a portfolio of commercial office and non-office leases and licence agreements
- Provide authoritative advice on legislation, codes, standards, frameworks, policies and procedures relating to accommodation infrastructure
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects and programs, including contractor oversight, construction and fit-out coordination, budget and schedule management, risk management, stakeholder engagement and project close-out
- Develop and undertake evaluation and data analysis of priority sites in line with the department's Infrastructure and Assets Strategy, driving cost efficiencies and continuous improvement
- Develop and implement infrastructure and asset policies, procedures, standards (including WHS), tools and templates that support the department's state-wide portfolio, workforce strategies and future requirements
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, service providers and other government agencies




- Prepare high-quality correspondence, including project plans, briefing notes, communication plans, policies, procedures, strategies and reports for a range of audiences
- Provide leadership and support to team members to deliver projects efficiently and sustainably

About you

- Extensive experience interpreting, negotiating and managing commercial leases and licence agreements
- Proven track record leading infrastructure or property projects from initiation through to close-out, including budget, schedule and risk management
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including experience working with government agencies
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, codes, standards and whole-of-government frameworks relating to accommodation infrastructure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, high-quality documentation for senior audiences
- Demonstrated leadership capability and a collaborative, safety-focused approach

Additional information This role may occasionally require after-hours or weekend work, particularly when supervising office and staff relocations, with time-off-in-lieu or other entitlements available in line with award provisions. Travel to regional centres and offices, including overnight stays, may also be required from time to time.
