Primary objective

Provide day to day management and high-level support to the Business Manager, Principal, and school staff in the areas of finance, procurement, administration, infrastructure, and human resources management for Maningrida College. Position based in Palmerston office.

Context statement

Maningrida Community College is located in one of the largest Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory, 550 km east of Darwin.



Maningrida Community College offers education to approximately 660 students from preschool to senior years and provides education services to up to 15 Homeland Learning Centres. The College incorporates a Family and

Children Centre, Families as First Teachers program, Trade Training Centre, Learning on Country Program and Indigenous

Languages and Culture Team.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Responsible for managing the receipting, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable processing and purchase order preparation and management functions for the school including advising staff on policies and processes.
- Effectively manage accounting, budgeting and financial processes and records for Maningrida College in accordance with departmental procedures and policies and working with the Business Manager
- Manage and provide accurate financial reports, information, and financial management advice on school financial matters to each of the Principals, Assistant Principals, School Council, staff, and external agencies.
- Provide financial support and training to administrative staff to assist the effective and efficient financial management and administration of the school.
- Provide advice, reports and assistance as required,



including payroll of school council employees, Business Activity

Statement (BAS) returns, Pay As You Go (PAYG) Tax and Superannuation Guarantee legislation.

- Assist in the development and administration of school policies and procedures relevant to the finance function of the school.
- Manage repairs and maintenance to the school buildings, facilities and equipment under contract in compliance with non-

urgent minor repairs, urgent minor repairs and minor recent works procedures.

Selection criteria

Essential

- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills to successfully undertake accounting, budgeting, and financial processes.
- Demonstrated high-level experience in administrative and financial operations within complex organisational environments, including the effective use of financial management systems, coordination of travel arrangements,

procurement and asset management, and oversight of facilities maintenance, including prioritising urgent and non-urgent repairs.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in administrative support, records management, human resource management,

financial management, procurement, and auditing.

- Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with, staff, school councils, and work as part of a team of administrative staff over multiple locations.
- Demonstrated experience organising and prioritising workloads, meeting deadlines, problem solving and working under pressure.

Desirable

- Qualification in Business or Accounting.
