Role Description The Apprentice Carpenter role at Activates is a full-time, in office position based in Brisbane, QLD. In this role, the apprentice will support qualified carpenters with tasks such as framing, installing doors and windows, fitting cabinetry, and assisting with interior finishes. Day-to-day responsibilities include measuring and cutting materials, using hand and power tools under supervision, maintaining a clean and safe worksite, and helping to prepare and set up work areas.
The apprentice will learn to read and interpret plans,
follow building codes and quality standards, and contribute to the construction of bespoke homes. This role offers structured on-the-job training, opportunities to develop trade skills, and exposure to a collaborative team of experienced builders and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- Interest in carpentry and residential construction, with a willingness to learn and develop trade skills.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, safe work practices, and an eagerness to follow safety procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions, read or learn to read plans and measurements, and pay close attention to detail.
- Good physical fitness for manual work, including lifting, standing, and working outdoors in varying conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and a professional, respectful approach to colleagues, subcontractors, and clients.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transport to Brisbane job sites.
- Completion or current enrollment in a relevant pre-apprenticeship or vocational carpentry course is an advantage, but not required.
