About the Role The Assistant Director, Program Schedule Manager will be responsible for managing the integrated program schedule and providing clear planning, dependency and milestone visibility across the Digital Transformation Program within this Federal Government Department.

Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain and continuously refine the end-to-end integrated program schedule across Digital Transformation workstreams, including milestones, dependencies, sequencing, critical path activities and delivery checkpoints.
- Track progress against the agreed program schedule and work with Delivery Managers, workstream leads and product owners to confirm status, identify slippage and maintain a realistic view of delivery progress.
- Coordinate integrated planning activities across delivery, business, technical and vendor teams to ensure workstream plans are aligned, dependencies are understood, and schedule impacts are visible early.
- Identify, document and escalate schedule risks, dependency conflicts, milestone changes and critical path pressures, including options to support informed decision-making by program leadership.
- Maintain planning artefacts and schedule-related governance products, including milestone views, dependency maps, forward schedules, decision points, release planning information and reporting inputs.
- Prepare explicit schedule reporting for program governance forums, the Chief Digital Officer and senior stakeholders, including progress against milestones, forward look-aheads, key risks, blockers and emerging delivery impacts.
- Support alignment between program planning, governance, change control and delivery reporting by ensuring approved scope,



priority or sequencing changes are reflected in the integrated schedule.
- Work collaboratively with Delivery Managers while maintaining a clear separation of responsibilities: the Program Schedule Manager manages schedule integrity and integrated planning visibility; Delivery Managers support teams to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Contribute to a disciplined program delivery environment by promoting consistent planning practices, timely status updates, dependency management and evidence-based reporting across the Digital Transformation Program.

Qualifications

- Qualifications in Data Engineering or Data Science, Information Technology, or other suitable qualifications
- Australian Citizen
- Baseline Clearance at minimum

Demonstrated ability to provide strategic planning, scheduling and governance support for large and complex initiatives, including the translation of program objectives into actionable delivery plans, the provision of accurate progress reporting and forecasting, and the identification and escalation of risks, issues and schedule impacts to support informed decision-making.
4. Ability to communicate technical information in both written and verbal contexts, in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
5. Demonstrated capacity to manage collaborative stakeholder relationships to achieve positive outcomes.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and perform in a fast-paced environment.
7. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, modelling the APS Values and APS Employment Principles and promoting compliance with the APS Code of Conduct.

Preferred Skills

- An understanding of vocational education and training (VET) in Australia, including the regulatory framework (or the capacity to quickly develop such an understanding).
- Experience operating in a program delivery setting using Agile and Human-Centred Design frameworks, including leading the delivery of Program level rituals.
- An understanding of emerging regulatory technology and practices will be highly regarded.
- Current experience working within Federal Government

Salary Package

- Non-Ongoing - EL1 - $121,778- $133,613
