About the role

Reporting to the Director, Program Delivery, the Associate Director, Tram Projects is responsible for the development and delivery of tram infrastructure projects, working with internal stakeholders, the franchisee and other external stakeholders, including Ministers’ Offices and the community.

The role oversees delivery of the tram projects and infrastructure program post-funding approval, ensuring projects are delivered to scope, time and budget, and that commercial issues are resolved and terms are met. It is responsible for leading a team of project managers across both franchisee-led and State-led projects, providing authoritative advice and direction, and representing the State’s interests on tram infrastructure and project matters to support a safe, reliable and high-quality public transport system.

- Thinks critically, can identify and manage risks and can problem solve, working across government and at senior levels to develop and deliver sustainable solutions to complex problems within defined delivery timeframes
- Manages a range of complex, often competing stakeholder needs, facilitating innovative solutions and negotiating at executive level.
- Leads governance of infrastructure projects and programs,



ensuring robust decision-making, risk management and accountable delivery.
- Brings solid policy, project and technical expertise, developing far-reaching business cases and building trusted relationships with senior leaders across the sector.

Qualifications and experience

You’ll bring

- Demonstrated experience in the oversight, delivery and management of assets or projects in a public transport environment (mandatory).
- A relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
