THE ROLE An opportunity for an established litigation lawyer to take real ownership of a portfolio of work, backed by a firm that will continue to invest in your development. The role comprises autonomous management of a portfolio of litigated motor vehicle property damage recovery claims and defences on behalf of some of Australia's largest insurers, and working on subrogated recoveries (fire, flood, impact damage), builder's warranty insurance recoveries, fraud and indemnity disputes and advice, and a broad range of other litigated matters, with scope to mentor and guide more junior members of the team.

Key responsibilities

- Autonomously manage a portfolio of litigated motor vehicle property damage recovery claims and defences
- Draft court documents, such as statements of claim, defences, subpoenas, etc.
- Prepare major advices for clients
- Draft evidence including statements and affidavits
- Prepare letters of instruction and confer with experts
- Appear at and run Small Claims Division hearings in the Local Court of NSW
- Brief and instruct Counsel at General Division and District Court hearings
- Draft settlement agreements and releases
- Work on subrogated recoveries, builder's warranty insurance recoveries, fraud and indemnity disputes
- Mentor and guide more junior members of the team

ABOUT YOU





- Minimum 2 years' post-admission experience in motor vehicle property damage recovery, subrogated recoveries, or insurance litigation
- Track record of autonomously managing a caseload and appearing at hearings
- Comfortable running your own matters end-to-end with minimal supervision
- Proactive skilled confident managing your own portfolio
- Capable of exercising sound judgement on file strategy
- Keen to continue developing your career within a growing, commercial law firm
- Someone who enjoys business development and interacting with clients
