About the Role This is an exciting chance for a recent or soon-to-be graduate in Building Surveying to gain practical, hands-on experience while working alongside experienced building professionals. The role is aimed at individuals seeking to take the next step to gain employment in the industry.
As a Cadet Building Surveyor, you'll support the Municipal Building Surveying team in assessing applications, undertaking inspections, providing technical advice and helping ensure building compliance across the municipality.
This role provides an excellent pathway to develop your technical knowledge, regulatory understanding and professional capability within local government.
What You’ll deliver
- Assist in the assessment of building-related applications, including Report and Consent, Hoarding Permits and Occupancy Permit matters
- Support building compliance activities and inspections
- Provide advice and information to residents, industry professionals and Council staff
- Maintain accurate records, files and corporate data systems
- Deliver timely and professional customer service responses
- Positively contribute to an innovative, collaborative and high-performing team culture
What You’ll Bring
- Completion or near completion of an Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying or Bachelor of Building Surveying
- A genuine passion for building regulation, compliance and public service
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively within a team
- Sound attention to detail and administrative skills
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check
