This senior procurement role will lead the development and delivery of category strategies across general goods and services, driving value for money, improving supplier outcomes and ensuring procurement activity aligns with organisational and whole-of-government requirements.
The Role
Reporting to a senior procurement leader, you will provide strategic, tactical and operational procurement advice while leading the General Goods & Services category function.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and ongoing management of the General Goods & Services Category Strategy
- Manage complex end-to-end procurement and strategic sourcing activities
- Undertake market analysis, approach-to-market strategies, evaluations and supplier selection
- Lead complex commercial negotiations with internal stakeholders, service providers and external suppliers
- Identify opportunities to improve value for money, service quality and operational efficiency
- Develop procurement strategies, policies, processes and governance frameworks
- Drive supplier optimisation and effective use of whole-of-government procurement arrangements
- Provide high-level procurement advice, recommendations and briefings to senior leaders and executives
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing procurement team
- Build solid relationships across operational, corporate and governance stakeholder groups
- Drive continuous improvement and uplift procurement capability across the organisation
About You To be successful, you will bring:
- Extensive experience in strategic procurement and category management
- Demonstrated experience managing complex sourcing and procurement activities
- Strong commercial, negotiation and supplier management capability
- Experience developing and implementing category strategies
- Strong knowledge of procurement governance, compliance and value-for-money principles
- Proven ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders
- Previous leadership or people management experience
- Experience within a large and complex organisation
- Experience within general goods and services, corporate services, government or other complex procurement environments will be highly regarded.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in procurement, business, commerce, law or a related discipline and/or professional procurement certification such as CIPS or PCP would also be advantageous.
