We have a current opportunity for a Capability Definition Document Development (CDDD) Specialist Engineer , on a contract basis within the Defence sector. The role is based in Canberra ACT . The contract is for an initial 36 month period, with a 12 month extension option .

Start: circa 20 Oct 2026

DSS Skill Set: Level 3 - Specialist Engineering - Capability Definition Documents Development The CDDD Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

- Development of Capability Definition Documents (CDDs) business cases, concept documentation and related capability development artefacts.
- Analysis, definition, and development of capability requirements aligned with Defence strategic objectives, operational needs, and future capability priorities.
- Technical assessment of capability opportunities, risks, dependencies, constraints and delivery options.
- Contribution to capability planning, capability design and future capability development activities.
- Provision of engineering advice and analysis to support Defence Portfolio Budget activities, investment planning and capability decision making.
- Support capability approval process activities as required.
- Translation of highly technical and complex geospatial and engineering information into explicit,



concise and decision-ready products suitable for senior executive and governance forums.

Minimum mandatory requirements:
- AGSVA Security Clearance.
- Professional memberships and/or tertiary qualifications in engineering.
- Experience in delivering Defence projects.
- General understanding of the domestic and international geospatial and intelligence landscape including awareness of emerging geospatial technologies such as space systems, artificial intelligence and advanced data. capabilities.
- Knowledge of the Australian National Intelligence Community.
- Strong communication skills to discuss and document technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and
- Knowledge of Defence Capability System processes (formerly One Defence Capability System).
