Civil Construction Engineer – Leadership Pathway
About our client
Our client is a Brisbane-based engineering consultancy with 55 years behind them and no plans to slow down. Employee-owned means the people doing the work also have a stake in how it's done — not a distant head office calling the shots. They've built a genuine reputation across civil and structural work over more than five decades, and they're now investing in something new: a dedicated construction management capability, built from the ground up.
About the role
This is a build-it-yourself chance. You'll be the first person into a newly forming construction management team, working across subdivision and urban development sites doing everything a superintendent role demands — and over the next couple of years, if you're up for it, growing into the person who leads that team.
You'll be out in office running inspections largely unsupervised: water, sewer, stormwater, reinforcement, roadworks, that kind of thing. On the contract side — progress claims, variation claims, extensions of time, dispute management — you'll have experienced support from the senior engineering team while you build that side of your skill set. It's real autonomy on the technical work, with backup where it counts.
No more 6.30am pre-starts as a standard. It's a 37½ hour week, and you'll manage your own day across your sites.
What you'll be doing
- Running construction and stage inspections across urban development and subdivision sites
- Acting in the superintendent role:
progress claims, variation claims, extensions of time
- Reviewing QA data post-construction
- Working closely with the contracts team to build your commercial and dispute-management skills
- Helping shape a construction team that will grow under your lead over the next few years
What we're looking for
- A qualified Civil Engineer with at least 3-5 years of construction experience within South East Queensland
- Proven experience working on urban development and subdivision projects and working knowledge of SEQ local council regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Capability in contracts administration and progress claims management highly regarded
What's in it for you
- A genuine leadership pathway — this role is designed to grow into managing a construction team within a few years
- 37½ hour week and control over your own schedule across sites
- No standard 6.30am pre-starts
- The backing of an established, employee-owned consultancy with 55 years of runway behind it
- The chance to build something — this team doesn't exist yet, and you'd be shaping it
How to Apply If you're an experienced construction professional looking to escape the typical site work grind while still focussing on your career, we want to hear from you. Even if you don't tick every box but believe you have the right background and mindset, please call:-
