About us

Detector Inspector started in 2005 when our two founders, Jason, and Jordan, recognised an opportunity to make a difference - we could help make homes safer for renters and make safety compliance easier for property managers.

At DI we share a passion for helping others, we take pride in our work and seek out opportunities to do things better. We’re passionate about training, providing career development opportunities and love solving problems to help us achieve our mission of making every home in Australia safer.

About the role:

Our Customer Accounts Specialist plays a key role in Accounts Receivable, taking ownership of a customer portfolio from day one and building effective relationships with our real estate agency customers and internal Account Managers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Managing an assigned portfolio of customer accounts, including collection of due and outstanding debts, mainly via phone (occasional face-to-face meetings may also be required)
- Building strong rapport with real estate agency clients and partnering closely with Account Managers to build on such relationships.
- Leveraging client and Account Manager relationships to proactively resolve issues before they arise.
- Monitoring accounts to identify overdue payments and initiating timely, appropriate collection activity.
- Preparing and presenting regular ageing reports and portfolio updates to the Accounts Receivable Manager and agency Account Managers
- Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies, short payments, and customer queries in a timely manner
- Ownership of the internal debt management system, including maintaining accurate customer master data

About You: You bring proven experience managing a customer ledger or portfolio in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, with strong communication skills and a knack for creative problem-solving.

You'll also bring

- Confident,

professional customer communication (written and verbal)
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to draw on multiple data sources to reach sound conclusions
- Adaptability in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in reconciliations and reporting
- Professionalism and strict confidentiality across all tasks
- Proficient across the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.

Experience

- University or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business fields preferred but not essential.
- Between 2-5 years’ experience in an Accounts Receivable or Collections role, ideally managing a full customer portfolio OR similar experience in an Account Management role.
- Proven experience working with multiple systems. Debt management, ERP, or finance/accounting software highly regarded.

Why join us?

- Work-life balance: We promote true work-life balance with a hybrid arrangement working from home and in our Carnegie based office.
- Great team culture: Work within a dynamic, supportive, and friendly environment that offers regular social events, dog visits, trivia, and more!
- Excellent professional opportunities: As the fastest growing property compliance company in Australia, we provide opportunities for qualified and personal development.
