Data Centre Installation Foreman

Location: Sydney, NSW — onsite across customer and partner data-centre locations

Contract: 12 months, with strong likelihood of extension

Start: ASAP

Shift pattern: Day shifts initially; the programme is expected to move toward 24/7 coverage. Available shifts may include 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM and 5:00 PM–1:00 AM (20% uplift applies to the evening shift).

We are seeking experienced Data Centre Installation Foremen / Installation Supervisors to lead onsite deployment work across multiple data-centre projects in Sydney.

This is a hands-on site leadership role for someone who understands how to deliver safe, high-quality technical installations—not just manage a project from a desk. You will coordinate installation crews, subcontractors, logistics and customer stakeholders while ensuring work is completed to design, safety and quality requirements.

What you’ll do

- Lead and coordinate onsite installation teams, technicians, vendors and subcontractors.
- Plan daily work, maintain installation trackers, run site kick-offs and safety briefings, and manage risks or blockers.
- Oversee rack positioning, levelling, bolting, rack-and-stack, server and switch installation, PDU installation and structured cabling.
- Ensure cable management meets required standards, including labelling, colour coding, bend radius, containment, airflow and accurate cable mapping.
- Review rack elevations, floor plans, cabling diagrams, network diagrams and installation drawings before and during work.
- Complete site-readiness checks across access, permits, delivery logistics, equipment storage, floor loading, available space, power and cooling.
- Coordinate receipt, inspection,

inventory and staging of racks, servers, switches, cabling and associated equipment; verify equipment against bills of materials.
- Coordinate with facilities, electrical, network, engineering and project teams to resolve dependencies and keep delivery moving.
- Verify installation quality, including grounding/bonding, PDU installation, power delivery, cooling and airflow requirements.
- Support equipment power-up, basic connectivity checks, link/port validation and initial testing where required.
- Manage installation QA, field changes and handover documentation, including as-built rack elevations, cable maps, port maps, serial-number records, photographs, checklists, test evidence and customer sign-off.
- Communicate clearly with onsite teams, project leadership and customer stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

- Proven experience as a Data Centre Foreman, Data Centre Site Supervisor, Installation Supervisor, Site Foreman, Data Centre Technician Team Lead, Deployment Engineer, Structured Cabling Supervisor, Telecommunications Supervisor, Critical Infrastructure Supervisor, or similar hands-on technical site-leadership role.
- Strong practical experience in data centres, critical infrastructure, colocation facilities, enterprise IT deployments, structured cabling or telecommunications infrastructure.

- Direct exposure to rack-and-stack, structured cabling, PDUs, UPS, grounding/bonding, cooling, airflow and data-centre installation standards.
- Experience leading crews or subcontractors and safely coordinating several parties working in parallel.
- Ability to interpret installation drawings, rack elevations, cabling diagrams and network diagrams.
- A safety-first approach, sound judgement under schedule pressure, and the confidence to stop or escalate non-compliant work.
- Strong organisation, documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite across Sydney data-centre locations and start at short notice.

Highly regarded

- Experience in live data-centre environments, recent builds, expansions, migrations, technology refreshes or commissioning.
- Familiarity with high-density infrastructure, facilities commissioning, cooling systems, building management systems, generators, UPS or critical-power environments.
- Experience with installation QA, as-built documentation, testing evidence and formal customer handover.
- Flexibility to work across a future 24/7 shift roster.

Important information

This is a fully onsite Sydney contract. Please clearly state your current location, availability to start, preferred shift availability and right to work in Australia when applying.

We welcome applications from experienced hands-on leaders who have progressed from technical installation into team, vendor and site coordination. Candidates must be able to demonstrate ownership of safety, installation quality and completion documentation—not only individual technician tasks
