D'Arcy Weil is recruiting a Project Development Manager on behalf of a global leader in grid-scale energy storage. Based in Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide, the role drives utility-scale battery projects through the early development lifecycle, from origination and site securing through planning, grid connection and approvals to financial investment decision.

The role exists to build and de-risk the development pipeline, turning early-stage opportunities into shovel-ready projects by managing the land, planning, connection and stakeholder workstreams that determine whether a project proceeds.

The Role

- Drive utility-scale BESS projects through the full development lifecycle, from origination to financial investment decision
- Secure and manage land, options and site access, coordinating landowner and stakeholder relationships
- Lead planning and environmental approvals, managing consultants and authorities to keep projects on programme
- Manage grid connection, from application through to connection agreement, working with network service providers and AEMO
- Build and maintain project development budgets, schedules and risk registers, reporting progress to leadership and investment committees
- Prepare and present investment cases that articulate cost, risk, return and delivery readiness
- Coordinate internal engineering, commercial, legal and delivery teams as projects move toward construction handover

About You

- Demonstrated project development experience across renewables, battery storage or infrastructure




- A track record taking projects through planning, grid connection and approvals toward financial investment decision
- Working knowledge of the NEM, grid connection processes and the Australian planning environment
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to build and interrogate development budgets and investment cases
- A capable stakeholder manager across landowners, authorities, network providers and internal teams
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Commerce or a related discipline
- Willingness to travel to project sites
