About Us

Rojo Australia Pty Ltd has been designing for the snow, surf and outdoor community since 1987. In 2027 we celebrate our 40th year and are making plans for the future growth of all of our labels. Under our mantra – Born in the Mountains, Lives by the Ocean – we operate a portfolio of brands built for specific communities and categories within the snow and outdoor space.

We're looking for a Designer to join our small, close-knit design team and work directly with the Founder across two of our core labels: Rojo Outerwear and POW Gloves.

The Role

We're ideally looking for someone currently working in a creative or design role who's ready to take the next step in their professional and design development.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants broad, end-to-end product experience – from trend research and concept development through to spec sheets, sampling and range delivery. You'll work closely with the Founder and external graphic design team on product design, trend forecasting, style direction and go-to-market activations across both brands, gaining exposure to every stage of the product lifecycle.

You'll draw on our detailed library of graphic logos to build curated ranges that speak to each brand's community.

Being an active participant in the snow and outdoor community is essential.

You'll be part of a small team that values initiative, creative thinking and a strong work ethic, with genuine opportunities to travel and immerse yourself in the community our brands serve.

Our expectation is that, over time, you'll grow into a lead design and creative role – in the meantime, you'll take instruction and direction from the Founder and key stakeholders as you build toward that.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Trend Analysis

- Track styling, fabric and colour trends across digital, editorial, retail and trade show sources relevant to snowsports and outdoor lifestyle markets
- Research the youth action sports and snowsports markets to identify emerging trends and influences
- Feed forward-thinking insights into seasonal design direction for both brands

Design & Development

- Design commercial product for Rojo Outerwear and POW Gloves' target customers, within target landed costs and margins
- Develop storyboards, silhouettes, colour palettes, trims, graphics and range concepts

- Develop graphic briefs for in-house and contracted designers as part of range development
- Source and select fabrics and trims suited to styling, with workable order minimums
- Support the Founder and graphic design team on artwork and the overall look and feel of both ranges

Product Specifications & Sampling

- Build and maintain accurate specification sheets, worksheets and measurement charts for each style, in conjunction with the in-house garment technician
- Brief suppliers with detailed specs and artwork to keep development and bulk production on schedule
- Coordinate fit and styling with the in-house garment technician, and manage proto and salesman sample reviews
- Approve prints, trims, embroidery and labelling details ahead of production

Cross-Functional & Trade Support

- Analyse past-season sales and competitor styling/pricing to inform the seasonal range matrix
- Present the design matrix and range reviews for Founder sign-off each season
- Support trade show representation and prepare technical/catalogue materials for the sales team
- Assist with periodic stocktakes relevant to your area of work

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this role will be measured against:

- On-time delivery of spec sheets, worksheets and range documentation against the Company Timetable
- Styles developed within target landed cost and margin objectives
- Sample and fit approvals achieved within agreed development timelines, with minimal revision rounds
- Seasonal design and range matrix submitted for Founder sign-off on schedule
- Quality and relevance of trend research reflected in each season's range direction
- Demonstrated progression toward greater design ownership and leadership over time
