About Active Ability The Active Ability team are experts in mobile disability therapy. We provide dietetic, exercise physiology, occupational therapy and physiotherapy services and specialise in supporting people with neurological conditions, autism, intellectual disability and mental illness.

About the Dietetic role

This role is open to both new grads as well as experienced dietitians and remuneration will be adjusted accordingly.
We are recruiting for a new full time employee dietitian to provide disability services to our wonderful clients in the North East of Sydney. This role includes all relevant leave entitlements as per the Health Professionals and Support Services Award.
The successful applicant will provide dietetic assessment,
recommendations and intervention to people with disability including children and adults with autism, intellectual disability, neurological conditions and complex mental health. The successful applicant will work with people of all ages, from 0 to 90 years old. They will have the flexibility of a hybrid role, both working from home as well as on the road between clients.
The successful applicant will also enjoy collaborating with the wider dietetic department and will receive a comprehensive onboarding program of support, as well as on-the-job specialist disability clinical training. They will progress from our 16-week onboarding program to the next stage of our 5-year professional development plan where they will receive targeted PD to become a disability expert. They will receive ongoing & regular clinical supervision from Active Ability's multiple senior dietitians and will love the dietetic community that they are a part of.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assess and treat clients in their own home, to implement dietetic therapy to improve functional independence and quality of life
- Provide face to face and occasional tele-support to clients in community settings. Specifically in the home or in the community, group homes, day programs
- Provide appropriately targeted education for clients, carers and staff as required
- Ensure appropriate written and verbal communication with key stakeholders as required including timely reports and meal plans
- Communicate and work efficiently and collaboratively with the team to ensure best practice & integrated client care
Skills and experience
Essential Selection Criteria:
1. Empathy and patience for your clients and a passion for supporting people with disability
2. Accreditation with DA, and a relevant bachelor degree or higher
3. Demonstrated ability as an independent worker who can exercise independent skilled judgement on routine matters as well as working in a multi-disciplinary team for coordinated care.
4. Demonstrated high-level skills in the development of dietetic supports for a wide range of novel and complex conditions
5. Excellent organisation and time management skills
6. Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
7. Strong administrative and computer skills
8. NDIS Worker Check, National Police Check, Working With Children Check, valid drivers licence and vehicle
9. A problem solver with a can-do attitude
Desirable:
1. Experience working or volunteering within the disability community.
2. 2 + years dietetic experience
