Role Description The Domestic and Family Violence Response Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Charters Towers, QLD. This role is responsible for providing crisis response, safety planning, and ongoing support to individuals and families experiencing domestic and family violence. Day-to-day tasks include conducting intake and risk assessments, coordinating case management plans, and liaising with relevant services such as housing, legal, health, and child protection agencies.

The worker will facilitate referrals, advocate on behalf of clients, and maintain accurate, confidential records in line with organizational policies and legislation. The role also involves participating in community education and prevention activities, working collaboratively with internal teams,



and contributing to continuous improvement of service delivery and client outcomes.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated skills in Social Work and Family Services, with experience supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence.
- Strong Case Management capabilities, including assessment, planning, coordination, and review of client support plans.
- Experience Working with Children, including understanding of child development, safety, and the impact of family violence on children and young people.
- Effective Communication skills, including active listening, clear written documentation, and professional engagement with clients and stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, Counselling, or a related human services field (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of domestic and family violence legislation, risk assessment frameworks, and trauma-informed, culturally safe practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and maintain skilled boundaries.
- Current Working with Children Check, police check, and valid driver’s license, or eligibility to obtain these.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse groups, is highly regarded.
