Stratacore Drilling is an established geotechnical and environmental drilling contractor based on the Central Coast, NSW. We are growing our team and are looking for reliable, hard-working people who want to build a long-term career in the drilling industry.

We are particularly interested in applicants who do not yet have drilling experience, but who are practical, mechanically minded, physically capable and willing to learn.

For the right person, we can provide the training, experience and development needed to progress from an Offsider / Driller Assistant into a Trainee Driller and ultimately a qualified Driller.

We are also interested in hearing from experienced Geotechnical and Environmental Drillers looking for a long-term position.

You do not need previous drilling experience to apply. We are looking for people who are practical, reliable, physically capable, comfortable around machinery and willing to learn.

Suitable applicants may come from backgrounds such as:

- Construction
- Civil works
- Earthmoving
- Mechanical or automotive trades
- Heavy vehicle operation
- Agriculture
- Landscaping
- Plant and machinery operation
- Other hands-on or physically demanding industries

For the right person, this role is designed to be more than just offsiding. You will work alongside experienced drillers, learn how the equipment operates, gain experience across different drilling techniques, develop industry qualifications and progressively take on more responsibility.

Our goal is to develop capable offsiders into Trainee Drillers and ultimately qualified Drillers.

Career pathway:

Offsider / Driller Assistant → Experienced Offsider → Trainee Driller → Driller → Senior Driller

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Offsider or Trainee Driller, you will work directly alongside experienced drilling crews on geotechnical and environmental projects.

Your duties may include

- Assisting with the setup and operation of drilling rigs
- Handling drill rods, casing, tooling and sampling equipment
- Assisting with geotechnical and environmental drilling
- Collecting and handling soil and rock samples




- Assisting with SPT testing and other field testing
- Setting up and maintaining safe work areas
- Loading and unloading equipment
- Assisting with equipment inspections and maintenance
- Operating support vehicles and plant where appropriately licensed
- Learning drilling techniques, equipment operation and site procedures

The work is physical and hands-on, but you will also be developing a specialised skill set with a genuine pathway into drilling.

What We Are Looking For

For our entry-level roles, attitude and work ethic are more key than drilling experience. We are looking for people who are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Honest and trustworthy
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Willing to learn
- Mechanically or practically minded
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Comfortable working around machinery and heavy equipment
- Safety conscious
- Able to work independently and as part of a crew
- Willing to work away from home when required
- Based on or within reasonable travelling distance of the Central Coast

Experience with machinery, trucks, excavators, vacuum trucks or construction equipment is an advantage, but is not essential.

Minimum Requirements – Offsiders & Trainees

Applicants should ideally hold:
- Current Australian driver's licence
- NSW White Card

The following are advantageous but not essential:
- MR or higher truck licence
- First Aid Certificate
- RISI / Rail Industry Worker competencies
- Excavator experience or VOC
- Vacuum truck experience
- Previous civil, construction or machinery experience

Applicants must also be willing and able to:
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Complete drug and alcohol screening
- Obtain a Police Clearance if required

Experienced Drillers

We are also looking for experienced Geotechnical and Environmental Drillers.

Relevant experience may include

- Geotechnical drilling
- Environmental drilling
- Auger drilling
- Rotary mud drilling




- Rock coring
- SPT and soil sampling
- Monitoring well installation
- Operation of truck-mounted and track-mounted drilling rigs

Preferred Qualifications

- MR or higher truck licence
- Certificate III in Drilling Operations
- NSW White Card
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Water Well Driller licence – highly regarded
- RISI / Rail Industry Worker competencies – highly regarded
