About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Driver Trained Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our dynamic community therapy team in Perth. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in restoring and maintaining independence for clients navigating physical, neurological, cognitive, or age-related changes. You will conduct comprehensive off-road and on-road driving assessments, prescribe vehicle modifications, and deliver specialised driver rehabilitation programs across the greater Perth metropolitan area.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments following protocols for clients with various medical conditions requiring therapeutic driving interventions
- Perform on-road driving assessments in partnership with qualified driving instructors to evaluate real-world safety and competence
- Prescribe specialised vehicle modifications, adaptive driving controls, and equipment to suit individual client needs
- Develop and implement individualised driver rehabilitation, retraining, and passenger-safety programs
- Liaise closely with the Department of Transport, medical practitioners, families, and funding bodies such as NDIS, Insurance Commission of WA, and My Aged Care
- Provide empathetic alternative transport planning and support for clients transitioning away from driving
- Provide transparent documentation and recommendations regarding ability
About you
- Bachelor or Master degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current, unconditional registration with AHPRA (Occupational Therapy Board of Australia)
- Successful completion of a recognised Postgraduate Driver Assessment and Rehabilitation qualification
- Current Western Australian Driver's Licence
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC), National Police Clearance, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Exceptional communication, clinical reasoning, and report-writing skills, with a compassionate, client-centred approach
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex driver assessments and managing vehicle modifications (NDIS experience is highly regarded)
- Experience working with clients of varying ages and skill levels

About us DriverRehab is an established OT practice in WA that specialises in occupational therapy driver assessments, vehicle modifications and rehabilitation. We provide home visits, and services from Hillarys and East Victoria Park offices. We service a diverse range of client groups including young adults and elderly people.
