About the Role
We are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental performance across our Water & Environment project portfolio. This is a genuine leadership prospect for a safety professional who wants to shape culture, not just police compliance — working across projects in Australia and the Pacific region.
Reporting to the Operations and Compliance Manager and General Manager, and leading a team of Safety Officers, you'll be a key member of the leadership team, trusted to protect our people, the environment, and our reputation as we deliver complex projects across diverse and remote locations.
What You'll Do
- Lead HSE strategy and governance — set the direction for health, safety, environmental, and quality performance across the organisation, and support project and site leaders to embed it in everyday delivery.
- Drive safety and environmental performance — oversee compliance with safe work practices, SWMS and risk assessments, and lead initiatives that lift performance across sites, including environmental controls, inspections, and audits.
- Own risk and compliance — lead HSE risk identification and management, chair the Corporate Health and Safety Committee, and maintain accreditation across ISO 9001, OHS 45001, and Enviro 14001, including the WHS accreditation with the Federal Safety Commission (OFSC).
- Report on performance — track HSE metrics, identify trends and emerging risks,
and deliver clear monthly reporting to leadership, clients, and stakeholders.
- Lead incident management — oversee investigation of incidents, environmental events, and non-conformances, ensuring root causes are identified, corrective actions implemented, and lessons shared across teams; coordinate WorkCover claims and Return to Work processes.
- Build capability — oversee HSE induction, training, and competency management across the workforce, including coordinating training delivery into Pacific countries.
- Contribute to the business — support tender submissions with HSEQ input, keep procedures and systems current, and mentor and develop your team.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a senior HSE leadership role, ideally within construction, water, environment, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management, and management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations and driving corrective action.
- Confidence engaging and influencing stakeholders from site crews to executive leadership and clients.
- Experience leading and developing a team, including remote or geographically dispersed staff.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites across the Pacific region.
- A genuine commitment to building a positive, high-performing safety culture.
