Perth Gay Games XIII 2030

Perth

PGG is a standalone company, focused on delivering Gay Games 2030 in Perth. The organisation is building the people, partnerships, and capability required to deliver the Games to international standards.

The Gay Games is one of the world’s largest inclusive sporting and cultural events. Founded in 1982, it promotes participation, inclusion and personal best through sport and the arts. The Perth Gay Games 2030 will celebrate LGBTQIA+ communities, welcome participants of all sexualities and genders, showcase Western Australia, and create an enduring social and community legacy.

Perth Gay Games 2030 Ltd (PGG) is seeking expressions of interest from skilled and values-driven people to join its Board in a voluntary, non-executive capacity.

Following an internationally competitive bid, Perth will host the Gay Games 2030. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a global sporting and cultural event that will welcome thousands of athletes, artists, supporters and visitors to Western Australia.

To complement the current Board, PGG is specifically seeking applicants with substantial experience in finance or marketing. Applicants must demonstrate strength in at least one of these two areas.

Directors will provide strategic leadership and effective governance as PGG grows from a newly established organisation into a major-event delivery body.

Directors are expected to

- contribute to strategy, organisational development and long-term legacy planning;
- oversee financial performance, risk, compliance and delivery against key obligations;
- support, challenge and hold the executive leadership team accountable;
- monitor readiness and performance across the Games’ multi-year delivery program;
- help build trusted relationships with the Federation of Gay Games, government, sponsors, LGBTQIA+ communities, sporting and cultural organisations, and other partners;
- champion inclusive, community-led and culturally secure decision-making;
- participate actively in Board committees, planning sessions and stakeholder activities; and
- discharge the legal and ethical duties of a company director.

The Board currently expects to meet monthly, with additional committee and strategic work between meetings. The time commitment is expected to increase as 2030 approaches.
