Cablenet Industries is expanding its fibre delivery team and is seeking an experienced Fibre Splicer / Fibre Technician to support telecommunications projects across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
This role would suit someone who takes pride in their workmanship, can work independently when required and understands the importance of accurate testing, documentation and network compliance.
Experience working on Optus, Vocus and VicTrack networks will be highly regarded.
About the role
Your responsibilities will include
- Fibre optic cable preparation, splicing and jointing
- Installation and maintenance of fibre joint enclosures, cabinets and termination equipment
- OTDR, insertion loss and power meter testing
- Fault finding, diagnosis and fibre restoration
- Fibre cutovers and live network activities
- Reading fibre allocation tables, splice diagrams and construction plans
- Completing test results, redlines, as-built records and project documentation
- Ensuring all works meet client specifications and quality requirements
- Maintaining splicing equipment, tools and company assets
- Working closely with project managers, field crews and client representatives
What we are looking for
- Demonstrated experience in fibre optic splicing and testing
- Strong understanding of telecommunications fibre networks
- Experience completing fibre cutovers and working on live networks
- Ability to read and interpret fibre plans, schematics and allocation tables
- Competence using fusion splicers, OTDRs and fibre testing equipment
- High attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
- Ability to complete accurate test records and project documentation
- Strong communication, reliability and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to protected work practices
The following will be highly regarded:
- Previous experience working on Optus, Vocus or VicTrack networks
- Rail Industry Worker accreditation and relevant rail competencies
- Experience with major fibre builds, relocations and remediation projects
- Telecommunications, optical fibre or related industry qualifications
- Construction Industry White Card
- Current Australian driver’s licence
