About the role

FMA Contracting is looking for an experienced Field Operations Manager to join our team in Tennant Creek, Barkly Region. Reporting to the Managing Director and Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and management of our field operations across multiple trades. This is a full time management position.

You will not be required to carry a tool bag — your focus will be on leading the team, managing workloads, keeping jobs moving and ensuring our service and compliance requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

- Allocate and schedule field staff across electrical, refrigeration, data, fire and security.
- Manage the job calendar, including bookings, rescheduling and job status.
- Review jobs to ensure they are completed, compliant and properly finalised.
- Ensure response times and service requirements are met across government contracts, including priority work at critical sites.
- Manage staff attendance, punctuality and in office performance.
- Ensure apprentices have appropriate supervision and that competencies are completed and signed off.
- Work closely with trade leads who are responsible for the technical standards within their trades.
- Keep jobs moving when delays occur due to parts, access, purchase orders or other issues.
- Communicate effectively with management, field staff, customers and trade leads.

About you

- A strong background in the trades industry.
- Proven experience supervising, coordinating or scheduling a field crew, ideally 10+ staff.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Confidence using job management software. We use Simpro and training will be provided.
- The ability to plan ahead and manage the week rather than simply react to daily issues.




- Experience working with government contracts or head contractors, including reporting and response-time requirements, is highly desirable.
- Remote or regional work experience is an advantage.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Current Ochre Card and Police Clearance.
- The confidence to hold people accountable while maintaining a positive and respectful team environment.

FIFO or Relocation – You Choose This position is based in Tennant Creek, Barkly Region, Northern Territory.
