Reporting to the Operations Manager, we have an opportunity available to join our team in Moriarty. This is a hands-on operational role responsible for coordinating the day-to-day scheduling of drivers, vehicles and freight movements. The role works closely with our operations team, drivers and customers to ensure freight is collected, transported and delivered efficiently across our Tasmanian and interstate network.
This position would suit someone with transport or general freight experience who enjoys solving problems, making decisions and adapting quickly as freight movements and customer priorities change throughout the day.
Duties
- Coordinate the day-to-day scheduling and allocation of drivers, vehicles and trailers.
- Plan and allocate freight across Tasmanian and interstate transport operations.
- Monitor daily freight movements and adjust schedules as operational requirements change.
- Communicate regularly with drivers regarding collections, deliveries, loads and changes to daily plans.
- Coordinate mixed freight across multiple customers, locations and delivery requirements.
- Work closely with the Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager to maximise fleet utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain daily driver and load plans.
- Liaise with customers regarding bookings, collections, deliveries and operational requirements.
- Assist with loading, unloading and movement of freight within the depot when required.
- Respond to changing priorities and resolve day-to-day operational issues.
- Ensure transport activities are undertaken in accordance with NHVR,
Chain of Responsibility and company requirements.

- Perform administrative duties including data entry and reporting
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, fleet scheduling, allocation or dispatch.
- Hands-on experience within a general freight or similar transport environment highly regarded.
- Experience coordinating mixed freight across multiple customers and destinations highly regarded.
- Experience working with interstate freight movements would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of NHVR and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
- Strong scheduling, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make practical operational decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with drivers, customers and management.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with drivers and operational employees.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Good computer skills and ability to learn transport and consignment systems.
- Ability to multitask and reprioritise as operational requirements change.
- Solid attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Self-motivated with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of an operational team.
- Current driver's licence required.
- Forklift licence highly regarded.
- Heavy Rigid (HR) licence highly regarded.
